The California Desert District Bureau of Land Management is holding two very special events this week!

The Desert Protective Council urges you to participate in one or both of these events.

On Thursday, October 13th, the new BLM CA Desert District Manager will be sworn in during a 3:00 PM ceremony at the CA Desert District Headquarters.

Date and Time: October 13, 2016 3:00 PM
Place: California Desert District Office
22835 Calle San Juan de Los Lagos
Moreno Valley, CA 92553

On Friday October 14th, the California Desert District celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the California Desert Conservation Area and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA).

The Desert Protective Council is especially enthusiastic about this event because the DPC was a key player in the public process to craft FLPMA. DPC also participated in the public process that created the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains Visitors Center.

And…. the DPC established the Randall Henderson Memorial Plaque on the grounds of the Visitor Center. Randall Henderson is, of course, the famous desert author, was the editor of Desert Magazine, and was a Founder of the Desert Protective Council!

Date and Time: October 14 2014, 10:30 AM to Noon
Place: Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center
Highway 74
Palm Desert, California
